Great food!!! I've been to Baton Rouge 3 times between November and March and have made it my business to dine here each time!! The food is great!!! The service each time has been phenomenal whether the restaurant has a 45 minute wait or no wait at all.
It's always clean and inviting inside and we've always been satisfied with our meals!!
Very family friendly and quite the place to be casual and have great food and great fun!!
My favorites are the gator bites, étouffée, and steak bites Although I do not eat oysters, an oyster lover in our family swears by these chargrilled oysters!! The catfish and gumbo are good too!!
    Roux 61 is awesome!!

I really wanted to like this place and I've heard good things, but maybe I just came on a bad night because I was really unimpressed.

Starting off with the oysters - I've never had oysters I didn't like before. I love them all - Gulf Coast, Atlantic Coast, Pacific Coast - you name it. But these oysters were awful! They were just oysters on the half shell but they weren't cold at all (like room temperature) and I found lots of hard little pieces in them. I know some places do the large sea salt on the oysters and I've heard people complain about it being pieces of shell, but I'm aware of and enjoy the salt and this wasn't salt.

Moving to the entre... I got a shrimp po'boy and the bread was about a foot long with maybe 6 shrimp on the entire thing... I was extremely disappointed. The bread was dry and un-flavorful and the sandwich lacked meat and flavor in general. I left hungry...

Overall, I would likely not return here.

    Leaving this here:
BEST GUMBO I HAVE EVER HAD !
I come here every time I travel to Baton Rouge for work and get myself a drink, a shrimp po boy and a cup of their gumbo...then I always get a cup to go for my boyfriend!

    Sooo good !

Now, I'm very hard on restaurants. I don't hand out 5 stars often nor easily. Roux 61 is about 4 and 3/4 stars. Lol. They are that good. Almost 80% of their menu is outstanding, and that's very unusual, especially for a place with such a diverse menu. The burger is my favorite but the catfish is done of the best out there. I wish I could sit with my dad one more time and split the catfish dinner. FYI: The chargrilled oysters are top 3 in the town and some of the best out there- trust me.

My fiancé and I were driving from Pensacola to San Antonio and we've never been to Baton Rogue. We came here to try some authentic Cajun food and were craving po boys. We did some research on Yelp and found this place and decided to go here based off the reviews.

We both ordered the shrimp po boy. If you are starved, get the whole sandwich. However, even just half a sandwich is massive. There was so much shrimp, which was nice because I love shrimp. The sandwich wasn't bad, but it wasn't really different from a sandwich at any other bar/restaurant. It wasn't bad, just not the Louisiana flavor that we were expecting.

The service was absolutely amazing. Our server was great! She was very friendly and personable and took the time to converse with us. She definitely made our experience here pleasant.
